I know. I know. I hear you. You don’t need my permission to do anything. I get it. You and I are one in that regard. Still, I wish someone would just give my conscious mind permission to go ahead and over-indulge a little bit this holiday season totally guilt free knowing I’m going to get right back on track.
So what if I eat ten of those yummy hershy kisses cookies in one evening? It’s not like they are ever in my house any other time of the year. Who cares if I have three slices of non-organic veggie pizza delivered straight to my door from Donatos? I don’t do this weekly, right? So I’ve been pit-stopping at Starbucks and indulging in a little holiday latte with my new gift cards…it’s not like they have their peppermint mocha java holiday cup of total love available all year long.
Please….someone…let’s trade. I give you permission if you give me permission. On the 26th I’m getting up and starting over just like everyone else, but for today and tomorrow, I’m just letting it all go.
Preemptive measures to make me feel good as I overindulge:
- Neem every single day. I’m doubling my does to get that uplifting flush of the digestive system.
- Triphala every single day. Again, I’m doubling up to keep me regular cause my body does not like to eat crud and it retaliates.
- Daily yoga. I’m lucky because I’m teaching so much over the holidays so this is easy for me. Come to one of my many classes this holiday.
- Daily meditation. I’m letting this go a little bit. My sit downs are going to be by a window with a cup of tea. Otherwise, I start to battle the fact that I have guests that are interrupting my schedule and I get grumpy. I think my gurus are okay with me checking out for awhile.
- I am hitting the prayer journal harder, however, as I catch up with people and learn that they are suffering. Otherwise, I get sad for them and mostly there isn’t a whole lot you can do for someone else other than pray and be supportive.
- Lots of tea. Hydration is critical and hot tea is the best way to get it and save your digestion. Also, if you drink tea you are less likely to drink to much alcohol and other sweet holiday drinks. (put some fresh ginger, cloves, and cinnamon in your tea.)
- Hardest for me…I’m letting work go. It will be waiting for me on the 26th. I give myself and you permission to not work for a couple of days and not to worry about it. It will be a good challenge to find something fun to fill your days off that does not involve work. (THIS IS SOOOOOO HARD FOR ME, but I’m going to do it.)
nuff said. Om, Pamela
