This is from the Siri Guru Granth reflecting on the qualities of a leader:

“You are beautiful when you don’t speak.

When you do speak, speak wisely.

Your job is to elevate others.

It is not their job to elevate you.”

I found this message written down in one of my many journals.  It’s a message I have been personally needing to hear these past few weeks as I’ve become more and more frustrated with the implementation of our POS system from mindbody.com.  It’s truly unbearable at this point to approach the ipad, the computer, the sign-in sheets, and the register.  My blood literally begins to boil if I even look in cash wrap’s direction.  I’m developing frown lines.

Not only has this turned me into a grump, but it has also made me whiny, critical, and needy.  I’ve been complaining a lot.  And guess what…no one cares.  It’s not their problem.  They would rather not hear about, not deal with it, and certainly they cannot help resolve the problem if I personally cannot resolve the problem.

In my human way, however, the more I’ve been ignored, the more I’ve complained.  What I really want as a human is help, support, understanding, sympathy, and all the other stuff that is generally needed when a human is suffering.  BUT…that ain’t gonna happen because when you are in charge, you are not a human.  You are a leader.

I don’t think I need to elaborate on what is written so clearly in the Siri Guru Granth.  I think I simply need to tattoo it on my forehead and start showing up as the leader that I am.

How are you leading your studio?

Om, Pamela
