I have no idea what is going on in my head at this point.  Seriously,  it’s a big ball of mush.  In the 21 stages we entered stage eight: Rasa.  Rasa is the essence or juice of life.  Digesting properly gets to the juice or essence.  To be digested this week is the ego.  Not killing the ego.  Not destroying the ego.  It’s more like an expansion of the ego into awareness and the merging of the ego into the Soul and the Soul into the ego.

Uggg…this is another esoteric piece…please bare with me.

In yoga, you have an ego.  The ego was given to you by God.  There is nothing wrong with your ego.  How could there be?  It was given to you by God.  That having been said, the ego is the cause of your dysfunction, your disease, and your unhappiness.  It is also the source of your freedom.  It is the cure.  It is the means by which to realize bliss.

How can it be the cause and the cure?  Isn’t that an impossibility?  My ball of mush says that this just can’t be so.  I think it was Voltaire that said something like “No problem can withstand the assault of critical thinking.”  Well let me tell you, he was not a yogi.  The more I think about my ego being the cause of my suffering and the cure of my suffering, the more confused and mushy I become.

I know, I know… You’ve already figured this one out.  That always seems to be the case in this world I confusedly navigate.  I come to some big huge insight and the rest of the world seems to already be there.  Well I’ve been thinking about this for a week and finally after tossing and turning and having terrible dreams I awoke to what all of this might mean:

Damn…I lost it again.

This is what Guru Nanak says.  “If the Lord grants His Grace, one acts according to the Teachings of the Guru Shabad. (The Guru Shabad is an amazing book that tells you have to live a gorgeous life.)  In this way, troubles depart.  Those who serve are content.  They meditate on the Truest of the True.  They do not place their feet in misdeeds, but do good deeds and live righteously in Dharma.  They burn away the bonds of the world, and eat a simple diet of grain and water.  You are the Great Forgiver; You give continually, more and more each day.  By His greatness, the Great Lord is obtained.”

Albert Einstein said, “”More the knowledge lesser the Ego, lesser the knowledge, more the Ego.”  Love him, but he failed as yogi on that.  Knowledge is given to you, wisdom is gained in the experience.

So what I’m thinking/feeling, is have the egoic experience of service living in the light of God consistently and the ego goes quiet and merges with the infinity of the Soul.  And just so you know…if may make you feel like a big ball of mush if that actually is the case that is actually happening after that amazing kriya.
