If you have too much Wind in your mind known as a Vata derangement, you may have trouble sleeping, concentrating, and remembering.  You are certain to have a hard time meditating.

 

Routine is essential.  Sleep, eliminate and eat at the same times each day.  Say no to any invitations that are not part of your normal routine.

  • Spend time in quiet and solitude.  Sit or walkk outside alone for 10 minutes every day.
  • Rest.  Go to bed by 10:00 every night and get out of bed no earlier than 7:00.
  • Take time to meditate or sit quietly.  Nap.
  • Warmth.  Make sure you dress warmly, sleep warmly and stay out of the cold and cold activities.  Avoid the wind including fans and ventilation from air conditioning.
  • Nourishment.  Follow a Wind Reducing Diet and eat at regular times each day.
  • When you feel hungry between meals, snack.
  • Drink warm waters and teas with herbs.
  • Massage.  Sesame oil is the preferred oil for The Wind.  Massage in the morning.
  • Give yourself a spa treatment of a hot bath or steam shower.
  • Sit in the sun and brightly lit spaces.
  • Restorative or gentle yoga.
  • Say no.  Turn down invitations and obligations until you feel more grounded.
  • Read something spiritual.

Avoid…

  • Alcohol
  • Smoking
  • TV, loud music, busy places and crowds
  • Excessive talking
  • Vigorous exercise
  • Cold food and cold or windy environment
