“Your life is and should be very simple.” ~ Yogi Bhajan
I’ve been reorganizing my house, pitching, giving, and cleaning. I do this every December. It prepares me for the insanity of the influx of the giving season. My philosophy is if something comes into the house, then something else must leave. I feel burdened by the weight of the responsibility of taking care of so much stuff. It overwhelms me.
As I prepare for the holidays and ultimately the new year, my focus goes to my physical being as well. What does reorganizing the physical look like? To a yogi, it looks like a heart-felt discussion with the self about choices that are being made that are not to the physical or emotional benefit of the being. You know how it goes…you pick up small habits that don’t seem so big in those little moments. An evening spent on the couch with a movie and popcorn turns into a nightly ritual. That extra serving of coffee in the morning. The slow expansion of the stomach that allows for more quantity at every meal.
In the moment, it doesn’t seem like such a big deal, but over time it adds weight, depletes immunity, takes the metabolism for a nose dive, and ultimately creates a layer of grey ick over the mind.
Breaking habits, getting back on track, and tackling some of the larger issues of life like what you want your life to look like for 2014 and beyond is tough to do alone. That’s why The Elemental Cleanse is so powerful. We work in a group. We support each other. We gently break our habits and learn new Ayurvedic habits. It’s an immersion into the simple life of a yogi.
I’m forming our group for January. Join us. It’s always fun and it’s always life-changing.
