So today is the third day of my insane 120-Cleanse. I learned (re-learned) a good lesson and I should be more mindful because I get this from my students who do the The Elemental Cleanse just about overtime I lead it, “What do I eat when I have’t planned?”
Today, I got up super early and did everything I’m supposed to do. I had hot water with lemon, a light breakfast of oatmeal, and 1/2 cup of coffee. I went to hot yoga super early and then taught a class. I thought I would be fine because I knew I was running to the grocery after class and having lunch at home today.
Well, I walked into the grocery store and nearly passed out as I realized I was starving. I navigated all the freebies expertly, but I found myself getting kinda wigged out. My body (after two yoga sessions) was screaming for a small dose of calories. I headed to the trail mix and grabbed some organic mixed nuts. I ate them slowly one by one and OMG they tasted so good. I followed up with a water. This got me home an to healthy food.
So the trick is the following:
1. Know when you are eating earlier and less and increasing activity, you will need more food. 2 cups at each meal is the recommendation.
2. Always keep high quality trail mix in the door of your car for emergencies.
3. Water fills the belly, especially hot water. Have a tea and you will be surprised how it will get you home to good food.
The other thing that happened today is I waited to meditate until noonish. This wasn’t ideal and I found myself a little emotional today. (Teachers in training are graduating tonight and I’ve been crying all day…I’m going to miss them so much.) After I meditated my emotions calmed and I felt peace and love with the process. So, meditation first thing in the morning really is critical even if you are getting up super early for Yoga. It sets the tone for the day.
Peace, Pamela
