In Kundalini yoga you pick a meditation and work with it for a minimum of 40 days. I’ve been back from my Kundalini Teacher Training in India for about 35 days and I have to confess that it has taken me almost that long to finally find a meditation that feels right to work with for 40 days at 11 minutes each round. I cycled through a lot of them intending to create abundance, prosperity, love, willpower, strength, endurance, and much more. All of those things sound so good to me and I do want to eventually do those meditations, but for some reason, I stumbled about this meditation and it feels right.
This meditation, if done consistently, turns the individual into a Saint. I don’t know a lot about Saints or what it means to be a Saint. I had to seriously consider this. To me, being a Saint means that you show up exactly who you are in your own authenticity with a passion for helping, serving, and teaching in some specified way. You wake up each day with your eye on the divine. Whatever your passion, it emanates from you and inspires others. You are a role-model for others. You help people find God within themselves or perhaps you work to channel that connection for others.
I think I was unconsciously influenced by the new Pope who took on the name of St. Francis to send a powerful message that we need to protect and honor our environment. St. Francis lived in the 1200s and was the Patron Saint of the Environment. When we say his name or light a candle in his name, we are sending out positive vibrations for the environment.
I do want to be Saint like. I would like to show up and teach my classes and help people to shift just by me being me and me letting them be them. I’d like to do that in my life as well. I like the idea of narrowing my focus to one legacy. I’ve always been a jack of all trades and master of none. If I could simply master one thing, I’d have an amazing legacy. So what is the one thing most meaningful to my purpose?
When you read the directions for this meditation, you will see that you are breathing in for a slow count of 4 and out for same. I don’t like to count 1, 2, 3, 4…numbers always spin my former CPA mind out. I was using Sa Ta Na Ma, but my “a ha” moment came through St. Francis. My Orange Kitty meandered into my meditation room. As usual, I picked his soft body up and shoved my face in his neck and just loved him to death. That’s when it hit me….love. What if I could simply wake up each day with a passion for Love. So, instead of counting to 4, I use my spiritual name, “JeetPrem Kaur”, as my mantra. It means “one who conquers all through divine love.”
In what way do you want to show up saintly? What’s your message to the world? What is your passion?
Here is a link to soulanswer.com to learn this meditation called “For Power and Control on Our Own Caliber.”. It’s from the book Pranna, Praanee, Praanayam on page 127 released by the Kundalini Research Institute. Honoring them, I don’t want to recreate without their permission. LINK HERE>>>
“If you correctly and rhythmically practice this exercise, you will become saints. It gives power and control on our own caliber. It will affect the pituitary gland, therefore you should just do it.” ~ Yogi Bhajan
